Bible Way Commentary

March 2025

Yesterday, today, tomorrow.

Especially when I am struggling with some unpleasant circumstance—perhaps health related, or a viewpoint I find disagreeable—it is easy to become wistful, grasping at the past, seeking ways to recapture elements of those “better” times. Looking ahead,  in dismay I shudder at the calamities to come. Is it any wonder I risk missing the potentials and joys of now?

Actually there is a Bible Way to look at our yesterdays, todays, and tomorrows. In Numbers 14 God’s Old Testament people were faced with a choice. Would they courageously go forward to the Promised Land or return to their memories of a more comfortable and tasty life in Egypt?  Good old Egypt—where they were brutally mistreated as slaves.

The best Way is always the Bible Way, even when that involves bracing changes. Jesus made it clear in Luke 9:62, “.  . .No man, having put his hand to the plough, and looking back, is fit for the kingdom of God.”  Onward!
